Hi, I’m Dr. Lauren Goodwyn.
My career in education and human behavior began as a paraprofessional, where I gained firsthand insight into the day-to-day challenges and triumphs within the classroom. This experience shaped my approach to learning, emphasizing empathy, collaboration, and a commitment to fostering positive student outcomes.
Building on this foundation, I advanced to a supervisory role, where I led professionals in implementing evidence-based behavior management strategies, provided practical training, and ensured programs met the diverse needs of students. This role gave me a systemic perspective on the challenges educators face and the power of strategic solutions to drive meaningful change.
Now, as a consultant working with districts across New Jersey, I bring over a decade of experience to schools and organizations seeking to enhance professional development and staff training. My approach is rooted in understanding the complexities of human behavior and designing tailored, practical solutions to meet each client’s unique needs.
In Elizabeth, I’ve collaborated on developing an FBA-to-BIP system, consulting with PIRT teams to provide in-classroom behavior supports, conducting student observations, and advising social workers and guidance counselors to address students’ interfering behaviors. For Jersey City, my work focuses on guiding PIRT teams, supporting proactive Tier 1 universal strategies, and providing professional development to build staff confidence and capacity. I’ve also partnered with Union County Services to deliver de-escalation training, helping their teams understand the phases of a behavioral episode and implement effective strategies at each stage.
Today’s classrooms are experiencing novel challenges, often without the necessary training or support to address them effectively and safely. Every school, educator, and student has unique needs. That’s why I prioritize adaptability and collaboration—crafting individualized strategies that work in real-world settings.
What I offer is a unique perspective: I’ve been in the classroom, led at the school level, and now collaborate at the district level. I understand your challenges and deliver solutions that are realistic, actionable, and sustainable. Together, we can create environments where educators and leaders feel empowered, students succeed, and challenges become opportunities for growth.
I’m also a professor at Seton Hall University. In my free time I enjoy soaking up nature, getting lost in a good book, or working on my memoir.
